Abstract

This chapter analyses the life situation of young adults aged 18 to 30 from the point of view of insecurity. The chapter asks what pivotal is going on in life during this phase and how it can be reflected in a sense of insecurity? The analyses deepen the transitions of young adults in Europe from childhood to adulthood in terms of key changes. Data from the European Social Survey ESS is being used. The analyses create a picture of how social relationships, work and economics, for example, vary in this age group. The review produces a description of the link between factors that are central to the life course of young people and young adults and attachment to society, such as starting a family, education and income insecurity and dissatisfaction with life.
