This contribution sketches a scenario that describes the potential impact of logistics of information on the logistics of goods in the context of new production technologies, such as digital manufacturing. The contribution also reveals an analogy between the evolution of social networks and transportation networks and tries to show a way, how the link between information logistics and logistics of goods can be used to reduce the burden of the current system of logistics of goods especially with respect to the opportunities that are created by the change of production paradigms introduced by digital manufacturing technologies.
