From Introduction:

The Nordic states were often seen as front runners in progressive environmental and social policies and presented as norm entrepreneurs when it comes to sustainability. We will explore this idea from a theoretical and practical point of view, using a critical approach from the inside. The countries under study are the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland) and the two associated territories, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Before diving into discussing individual countries, the book, with this contribution by Torsten Graap, offers an in-depth theoretical chapter exploring the concept of sustainability itself and how specific Nordic scholars following an inter- and transdisciplinary approach have contributed to the development of ideas related to sustainability and sustainable development.
