The Royal Society of Chemistry has been in existence since the formation of the Chemical Society of London in 1841. During this time the Chemical Society had a number of distinguished presidents, perhaps none more so than in 1861 when distinguished German chemist August Wilhelm von Hofmann was elected President. ...
