Abstract:

On the basis of a capital-theoretic framework à la Böhm-Bawerk, the implications of a „savings glut“ scenario with a negative natural rate of interest are analyzed. Implications for public debt policies, pay-as-you-go systems of social security, and price level stability are discussed, focusing specifically stylized facts capturing the situation of the Eurozone and Germany.
