Jan Priewe zeigt in seinem Beitrag auf, dass die Schuldengrenze von 60 Prozent des BIP laut den Maastricht-Regeln jeglicher wissenschaftlicher Grundlage entbehrt. Weder sei eine Schuldengrenze an sich sinnvoll, noch lasse sich das Niveau von 60 Prozent begründen. Die willkürliche Grenze beeinträchtige aber das Wirtschaftswachstum.
